At 1352 hrs, Earlysville Engine 41 was dispatched for a motor vehicle accident reported with possible ejection at the intersection of Earlysville Rd and Norwood Dr. As units were en route ECC updated that the accident was a motorcycle vs car and ECC added Hollymead Engine 121 for additional manpower. When crews arrived on scene, they confirmed 2 patients. Units on the scene requested Seminole Trail Engine 81 to be added to the call to establish a landing zone for UVA Helicopter Pegasus. Units on the scene stabilized the driver of the station wagon and transported them to the LZ where they were transported to UVA Hospital in critical condition. Unfortunately the motorcycle rider sustained fatal injuries and was unable to be resuscitated. The driver of the vehicle has been charged with aggravated involuntary manslaughter, reckless driving and failure to wear a seat belt by the Albemarle County Police Department.
