Haz-Mat Situation in the Research Park

At 0913, the Haz-Mat box was transmitted at the UVA Research Park for a suspicious white powder substance found on a piece of mail. Additional comments were that the individual who had initially handled the letter now had a burning sensation from where they had come into contact with it. Responding on the run were Engines 121, 45 and 7 (City Haz-Mat Engine), Tower 88, Haz-Mat 47, CFD Haz-Mat 1 (Regional Team), Chiefs 11 and 80, CFD Training 1 (Haz-Mat Assignment) and FM11 along with ACPD. Engine 121 and 45's crew evacuated the rest of the building and set up a perimeter. The incident was then turned over to the city Haz-Mat team.
